A dual layer MDF plinth finished in Matte Black.
The Well Tempered Lab Amadeus range of turntables are designed and built with one goal in mind; Maximum enjoyment from you analogue record collection. Well Tempered Lab's unique designs, mostly of which are patent registered let nothing stand in the way of your music. The approach which may on the face of it seem simplistic is in fact the reverse and has taken countless hours of research and thinking outside the square. For instance whilst many manufacturers labour endlessly to design the perfect bearing, Well Tempered Lab eliminate them.
The unique "golf ball" tone arm features a fully internally damped aluminum tube suspended in Silicone fluid for perfect damping.
An acrylic platter spins in a zero clearance bearing rather like a round peg in a square hole, coupled with Well Tempered Lab's unrivaled .004mm polyester thread belt ensures vanishing low wow and flutter figures, in fact the lowest we have ever measured.
The Amadeus was the first Well Tempered Lab design that featured the now quite famous and innovative "golf ball" tone arm. The Amadeus MKII version has the same dual layer MDF plinth and acrylic platter along with Well Tempered Lab's recently developed Symmetrex tone arm.
"At anywhere near the price point, it is hard to fault the Amadeus. The combination of superbly quiet, stable, solid, low-distortion playback with unusually good bass performance… One could spend a lot more money, but I would listen carefully to the Amadeus first. It is something exceeding fine, far beyond its modest price." - The Absolute Sound (Robert E Green). Read review here.
