The TAD-ME1TX takes over from the critically acclaimed TAD-ME1, which was introduced in 2016. A host of refinements are incorporated into the TAD-ME1TX to achieve enhanced audio performance, including a tweeter that features a beryllium diaphragm manufactured using TAD's proprietary vapor-deposition technique, just like those found in their higher-end speakers.

CST driver delivers ideal single-point-source sound

The TAD-ME1TX boasts TAD’s proprietary CST driver, which controls the directivity of the midrange and tweeter over an extended frequency range from the point of matching phase. TAD-ME1TX’s 9 cm CST driver achieves clear and solid imaging, as well as natural sound-field reproduction. The midrange cone controls the directional characteristic of the tweeter to bring the phase and directivity of their output in line in the crossover region.

Tweeter features a beryllium diaphragm

The TAD-ME1TX features a lightweight, rigid 25mm beryllium tweeter diaphragm, made with TAD’s vapor deposition technique. Using their HSDOM optimisation method, vibrations are controlled allowing for clear, wide-range sound reproduction up to 60 kHz.

Newly developed magnesium diaphragm

The magnesium alloy midrange diaphragm is lightweight with high internal loss for better performance. Anodization and coating enhance its hardness and reduce distortion. Minimizing resonance at the wire-voice coil connection ensures clear sound. The reinforced frame basket also improves structural strength and smooths sound wave propagation.

Woofer features an MACC diaphragm

The 16 cm woofer features a Multi-layered Aramid Composite Cone (MACC) for rich, clear low frequencies and accurate mid-lows. Its Linear Drive Magnet Circuit (LDMC) and foamed polycarbonate surround ensure deep, clear bass. A reinforced woofer basket enhances durability and smooth sound propagation.

So satisfying is the ME1 that, in the right room at the right levels, you’ll easily hear what all the hubbub over the CR1 was about. It can utterly destroy preconceptions about what a small speaker can do. Pound for pound, the ME1 is truly one of the greatest little loudspeakers to hit the audiophile market in years.
