Powered Subwoofer with Dual 13.5-inch Subwoofer Drivers, 4500 watts

Your first look will tell you that you are looking at something special... your first listen will confirm it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

In terms of reference-grade, or should I say weapons-grade, subwoofers, the Gotham by JL Audio knows few equals.

The beauty of the Gotham® v2 extends well beyond its exotic design and exceptional craftsmanship, aiming right at the emotional core of musical and cinematic enjoyment. This is a subwoofer system with limits that exceed the needs of the typical home theater application, delivering a weight and integrity of reproduction that can only come from a system that is always in control. Its allure lies as much in its ability to convey subtleties as in its prodigious output capabilities. It is simply devastating.

Listening to a Gotham® v2 reveals an entirely new dimension of subwoofer performance... a dimension so satisfying that listening to lesser subwoofers will forever become an act of compromise.

A luxurious, handcrafted gloss-black finish is complemented by machined aluminum and stainless steel accents for a look and feel that fits perfectly with the finest home furnishings. More importantly, the beautiful cabinet houses a pair of JL Audio's highest-technology Subwoofers. When demanded by program material, the Gotham's prodigious switching amplifier can deliver 4500 watts of RMS power, to take full advantage of the twin drivers' four inches of peak-to-peak excursion capability. This ensures that the Gotham can breeze through material that makes other subwoofers go into clipping, limiting or distress.

Listening to a Gotham® v2 reveals an entirely new dimension of subwoofer performance... a dimension so satisfying that listening to lesser subwoofers will forever become an act of compromise.

Who is this for?

Who is this for?

The Gotham G213V2 is built for the uncompromising listener who demands accurate, visceral bass extension in large dedicated listening rooms or home cinemas measuring 55 to 185 square metres. If you've invested in full-range tower speakers or a reference-grade multichannel system and find yourself wanting to explore the deepest registers of orchestral works, electronic music, or cinematic soundtracks without compromise, this dual-driver powerhouse delivers subsonic performance that remains composed at any volume level.

This subwoofer integrates beautifully into systems built around high-end separates, whether you're pairing it with a sophisticated two-channel preamplifier and monoblock amplifiers or a state-of-the-art AV processor. The onboard 4000-watt amplifier and extensive DSP controls allow precise calibration to match your main speakers and room acoustics, making it equally at home reinforcing a pair of reference monitors or anchoring a flagship multichannel array. The Gotham's sealed enclosure design ensures transient accuracy that keeps pace with the most revealing electronics.

If you're the type of enthusiast who appreciates proper setup and room integration, and you have the physical space to accommodate a substantial 686-millimetre-tall cabinet weighing over 90 kilograms, this is a subwoofer that rewards careful placement and tuning. It's for listeners who understand that truly deep, accurate bass isn't about volume alone—it's about control, extension, and the ability to reproduce everything from a 16Hz organ pedal to a film's low-frequency effects with equal authority and refinement.

Reviews

The Gothams and the CR-1 are the paths to a full-range bliss you’ve never before experienced, because, in my own experience, it’s never before been available at this level of unalloyed satisfaction. Both the Gotham subs and JL’s CR-1 crossover, obviously, get my highest, most unqualified, most enthusiastic recommendation. I just wish all of you could hear them!

In terms of reference-grade, or should I say weapons-grade, subwoofers, the Gotham by JL Audio knows few equals. the Gotham is a no-holds-barred assault on your senses. It's part jackhammer, part scalpel, for no matter what source material you throw at it, you won't faze it. It is exceedingly musical when called for, but can also throw down with subs costing much, much more
