The Lumin U2 Mini makes me happy. It is a beautiful network player that performs at a higher level of music reproduction

Built for Serious, Long-Term Listening

At its core, the U2 Mini is a pure streaming transport with no built-in DAC stage, ensuring the shortest and cleanest possible digital path. This allows your external DAC to take centre stage, revealing greater depth, timing precision, and tonal clarity from your music. In the right system, it can significantly improve focus, soundstage stability, and overall musical realism.

Despite its minimalist concept, the U2 Mini benefits from Lumin’s advanced streaming platform. It supports Roon Ready, TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, TuneIn, and a wide range of high-resolution PCM and DSD formats, ensuring seamless access to virtually all modern music services and libraries.

A More Refined Way to Hear Digital Music

Connectivity is flexible and system-friendly, with multiple digital outputs including USB, coaxial, and optical, allowing easy integration with a wide range of high-end DACs. Its network architecture is designed for stability and low noise, helping to preserve fine detail and spatial information during playback.

Like all Lumin products, the U2 Mini is built with long-term performance in mind. Regular firmware updates continue to enhance features, improve sound quality, and expand compatibility over time, ensuring the unit remains current within an evolving streaming landscape.

At Soundline, the U2 Mini is often recommended for systems where the DAC is already a strong point. It’s the kind of upgrade that quietly transforms a digital system—reducing noise, improving timing, and allowing the character of the music to come through with greater naturalness and ease.

All LUMIN network players are certified as Roon ready, which means they'll drop right into your existing setup if you're a Roon user. Roon is an elegant music management tool that's designed for music-loving audio enthusiasts. It combines your existing digital music collection with the best streaming services to provide an unmatched music browsing and discovery experience. Learn more about Roon here.

If you're not a Roon user, controlling your player is still easy and fun using the free LUMIN App. It was created to work in harmony with the LUMIN hardware to deliver the most intuitive and visually rich way to browse, select and play your music collection.

Who is this for?

Who is this for?

The LUMIN U2 Mini is built for the audiophile who already has a quality DAC at the heart of their system and wants to unlock its full potential with a dedicated streaming transport. Rather than replacing existing digital-to-analogue circuitry, the U2 Mini feeds it — cleanly, precisely, and without colouration — handling everything from standard streaming services through to high-resolution PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512. Its quad native clock system and comprehensive digital output options, including AES, coaxial, optical and USB, make it compatible with virtually any DAC on the market.

Reviews

A transport that will not disappoint even with DACs much more expensive than it. Great resolution combined with the trademark naturalness and smoothness.

The Lumin U2 Mini makes me happy. It is a beautiful network player that performs at a higher level of music reproduction compared to the U1 Mini. A bold statement without the U1 Mini next to it in AB comparison. In my defence, I can argue that the U1 Mini has often spoiled my ears in various systems in the past, including here at home.

To put it bluntly, this is not in line with the price level and a similar impression could be expected from [products] at least twice as expensive. We are dealing with a device worth, even if not buying blind, at least getting to know personally. Really worth it.
