What type of speaker is the Silver 300 8G?
It's an elegantly designed 3-way floorstanding speaker, combining twin 6-inch C-CAM bass drivers, a dedicated 3-inch midrange driver, and a 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter.
Is it meant for stereo listening, home cinema, or both?
Both. It performs well as a stereo pair for music, and can also serve as the main front left/right speakers in a larger Silver Series AV system — for example in a 5.1 or 7.1.4 Atmos home cinema setup.
Why does it have three drivers instead of two?
The 3-way design splits duties between bass, midrange and treble, with each driver optimised for its specific range. The dedicated midrange driver, housed in its own enclosure, keeps vocals and mid-frequencies clear and uncoloured, rather than asking a single driver to cover both bass and mids.
What is Silent Flow port technology?
It's Monitor Audio's owl-feather-inspired port design. A larger, fluted shape guides airflow more smoothly through the cabinet, reducing turbulence and "chuffing" for deeper, cleaner, more controlled bass than a conventional port.
What are the outrigger feet for?
They're an all-new design inspired by the flagship Platinum Series 3G, providing a wider, more stable footprint. A discreet top-adjust mechanism, hidden beneath a spun metal disc, allows precise levelling, and the spikes can be removed to reveal integrated rubber feet for use on hard floors.
What finishes is it available in?
Three: High Gloss Black, Satin White, and European Walnut. The Walnut is a real wood veneer, crafted from sustainably engineered timber to achieve the look of exotic hardwood without using rare or endangered species.
Does it come with speaker grilles?
Yes — bespoke magnetic grilles are included as standard with every finish.
What amplifier power does it need?
Monitor Audio recommends 100–400 W into 4 Ohms, or 50–200 W into 8 Ohms. Continuous power handling is rated at 200 W.
What's the nominal impedance?
8 Ohms, with a minimum impedance of 3.9 Ohms at 3 kHz.
What's the frequency response?
30 Hz – 35 kHz, measured in-room at -6dB.
How big and heavy is it?
1020 x 295 x 410 mm (H x W x D), weighing 19.3 kg each.
Can I pair it with a subwoofer?
Yes — Monitor Audio's Vestra subwoofer range is designed to complement the Silver Series 8G, adding deeper low-frequency extension for both music and film while preserving the same clarity and control.
How does the Silver 300 8G compare to the Silver 500 8G?
The Silver 500 is the range-topping model, with twin 8-inch bass drivers (versus the 300's twin 6-inch drivers), delivering greater bass extension, higher maximum SPL, and more headroom for larger rooms. The Silver 300 offers most of that scale and full-range confidence in a somewhat smaller footprint.
