Rega is coming soon to Soundline

With the Ania Pro Rega have delivered a moving coil with many clear strengths and no obvious shortcomings

Listen like a Pro

Using the unique hand-wound micro coil found in the rest of the MC range, the Ania Pro is housed in a unique PPS highly rigid body, ensuring accurate construction and Rega’s three point fixing method which offers the optimum connection to the head-shell while automatically setting overhang. The new body is protected by a CAD designed, red rigid cover to protect the internal fine wires, making handling when fitting, safe and risk free. The Ania Pro features a super high-powered, neodymium magnet and a coil meticulously hand wound on to an iron micro cross. This miniature assembly allows us greater freedom to track the vinyl groove guaranteeing even more detail is extracted from the vinyl. All of these features combine to deliver a balanced and dynamic performance that will engage you with your vinyl like never before. The Ania Pro is the perfect partner for the Planar 6 and Planar 8 turntable with a factory fitted option available for both.

Speed, clarity & detail

Rega’s Moving Coil cartridge design is built around a unique, ultra-low mass undamped generator using a rhomboid pivot and a proprietary Neodymium magnet system, exclusive to Rega. Achieving the required precision demands a zero-tolerance cartridge body—something Rega has mastered over decades. In flagship models like the Apheta 3 and Aphelion, this body is machined from a single block of aluminium, ensuring perfect alignment between the pivot and magnet mountings.

For the Ania Pro, Rega developed a new body using Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS-Fortron), a polymer reinforced with 40% glass. Its hardness and post-moulding stability were ideal—but moulding its complex shape presented a major challenge. After successful SLA prototyping, Rega commissioned its most intricate high-pressure injection mould to date. Built over a year by a senior toolmaker using micron-precision Swiss EDM CNC machines, the mould features eight major components, four of which move in perfect synchrony to produce each cartridge body.

Paired with stainless steel inserts, the rhomboid pivot system, and a diamond-tipped elliptical stylus on a low-mass generator, the Ania Pro delivers exceptional musicality, clarity, speed, and detail—offering performance previously unseen at this price.

Reviews

With the Ania Pro Rega have delivered a moving coil with many clear strengths and no obvious shortcomings when used on Rega turntables at least, it’s relatively low mass means it should work on a good variety of arms but Rega’s have the advantage of the third fixing. It brings many of the qualities found in their Apheta 3 and offers a clear upgrade on the Ania.

In many ways, the Ania Pro takes the strengths of the now discontinued Apheta 2 and adds an extra dose of civility and warmth for a more attractive outlay. The resulting cartridge feels rather more complete and as well as being an excellent option for Planar 6 and 8 turntable purchasers, should be on everyone’s shortlist at the price
