Rega Fono MC Mk4

Easy to use, low noise

The Fono MC MK4 has been designed to be effective, easy to use, and above all, to reproduce music. The Fono MC MK4 uses the Linear Systems low noise LSK389 FET in an all discrete input stage where low noise and linearity are vitally important to get the best from an MC cartridge. Because of the high input impedance of FET, the loading effects of the amplifier circuit are minuscule and do not affect the performance of the cartridge.

Reviews

It combines superb basic performance with unusual flexibility for a design at this price, making it a go-to design at or anywhere near the asking price.

The Rega Ania and Fono MC are a pretty sweet package, you need a decent turntable and arm to make the most of them, an RP6 at least, but given that, the result is pretty damn close to the music power available with much pricier combos. In fact I can’t think of a more inspiring record player than RP8/Ania/Fono MC. But be careful, it could give you a chronic case of vinyl addiction.

Potent, fullblooded, involving sound; purist design. A thrilling, music-first ride
