Precision Boron Cantilever & Fine Line Stylus

One of the key engineering challenges in developing the Nd9 was securely coupling the Nd magnet to a Boron rod—an incredibly light and rigid material prized for its speed and precision. Rega overcame this by partnering with a master watchmaker to create an ultra-fine, dual-diameter connecting tube, allowing for perfect mechanical integration.

The result is a Boron cantilever fitted with a precision fine line diamond stylus, capable of extracting maximum musical detail from the record groove. Boron’s exceptional rigidity means the cantilever flexes less, transmitting motion more accurately and significantly reducing distortion. Its extremely low mass enables rapid response to even the most intricate changes in the groove, delivering outstanding clarity, dynamics, and nuance.

Next-Level MM Performance

At its core, the Nd9 combines Rega’s advanced Neodymium magnet technology with a Boron cantilever and fine line nude diamond stylus. This ultra-low-mass assembly is engineered to deliver exceptional tracking accuracy, breathtaking detail retrieval, and dramatically reduced distortion.

The Nd9 stands as Rega’s most advanced moving-magnet design to date—combining cutting-edge materials, meticulous micro-engineering, and decades of analog expertise. Glass filled PPS body

The complete assembly is housed in our zero tolerance Injection moulded glass filled polyphenylene sulphide body (PPS) which is a lightweight and highly rigid material. A low mass body reduces stress on the tonearm bearings and aids free movement which is critical in accurate vinyl replay. This new body design was inspired by our hugely successful MC range.

Rega rebuild scheme

The unique pivot pad design of Rega cartridges improves performance by eliminating the mechanical joint between the stylus housing and the main body. This vastly improves tracking ability and stability of the stylus. If you should damage or wear out your Rega cartridge, simply return it to you Rega dealer and they will supply you with a rebuild cartridge fitted with a new cantilever, stylus and pivot pad. Each rebuild is fully tested as a new cartridge would be. The rebuild is sold at a reduced price once you trade in your worn or damaged cartridge that is equivalent to a replacement stylus offered by other manufacturers.

It is a product that is so fundamentally right, you would assume it was a clean sheet of paper design rather than a talented adaptation of existing hardware; the cartridge equivalent of the Bear Grylls ‘improvise, adapt, overcome’ adage. It adds a formidable new option to a range already bristling with talent and I suspect Rega is going to do rather well with it.

For anyone with a Rega tonearm it borders on being a no-brainer and the performance is sufficiently impressive that I can see it doing very well elsewhere too

It is a product that is so fundamentally right, you would assume it was a clean sheet of paper design rather than a talented adaptation of existing hardware. It is good enough to offer an extremely high performance option on a selection of turntables and it does so at a price that is extremely competitive for the spec it offers. It’s another great arrival in a formidable cartridge range and one that is an indisputable Best Buy.
