Built-in Phono Stage

The built-in phono stage is a high specification pre-amplifier. It is designed to amplify the signal from a moving magnet cartridge to a suitable level for all line level inputs of an appropriate system or audio amplifier. This allows simple connection to a wide variety of products using either the standard twin phono to phono lead (supplied) or phono to 3.5 mm plug (not supplied).

Tonearm

RB110 tonearm built with Rega designed, bespoke, ultra low friction bearings (Patent Pending). Pre-set bias assembly negating the need for the user to set bias, making this the most ‘Plug & Play’ turntable we have ever manufactured. Ergonomically, re-designed and stiffer headshell for improved usability and appearance.

Precision Engineering and Performance

The Rega Planar 1 Plus combines precision engineering with refined aesthetics to deliver an exceptional entry-level listening experience. Its 24 V synchronous AC motor, paired with a new motor PCB and aluminium pulley, ensures low noise and superior speed stability, while the advanced EBLT drive belt enhances accuracy and consistency.

The precision brass main bearing reduces stress and energy transfer for smoother operation, complemented by a 23 mm high-mass phenolic platter that improves the flywheel effect for stable rotation. The turntable sits on custom-designed feet that minimise vibration, and the plinth—available in black, white, or walnut-effect matt finishes—features an ergonomically positioned on/off switch for a clean, user-friendly design.

The Planar 1 Plus sounds brilliant. It is rather lean-sounding when played straight out of the box - but the sound comes into its own after a couple of days, becoming more full-bodied and rhythmically exciting the longer you play.

With the Planar 1 Plus, Rega has managed to create a turntable that is utterly untaxing to set up and use, that still delivers the qualities that we have come to expect from the company.

As someone who has owned and reviewed nearly every turntable Rega has made for the last 35 years, I remain astounded at how they keep refining this platform. There is no easier record playing platform than Rega’s Planar 1 Plus, and I doubt a better value either. Definitely Exceptional Value Award material!
