The Xerxes 20 Plus is the result of ongoing research, development and refinement of the ideas behind the original Xerxes Turntable.
The quality of engineering is visible through the compact clean lines and robust construction of the three-plinth, triple-layer isolation system.
At the heart of Xerxes 20 Plus Turntable is Roksan’s unique and formidable self centring, self aligning true single point Main Bearing. The innovative design of this bearing provides almost silent, frictionless rotation, precisely defining the rotational axis. The only contact is between the polished Spindle tip and the captive Tungsten Carbide super precision ball. The Spindle is made from hardened steel and is ground with a taper that locates into the Inner Platter without the use of adhesive or the need for pressing.
The Xerxes 20 Plus Turntable is best suited with Roksan tonearms, but is compatible any other high-quality tonearms. It offers a powerful and expansive sound displaying a fine mid-band, fast deep bass, very smooth and open treble.
Musicians are firmly located within the soundstage, with tempo and musicality combining to create a compelling sense of live music being played. If your quest is to extract the most from your record collection, playing them on the Xerxes 20 Plus when fitted with an appropriate tonearm and cartridge is how best to achieve it.
Xerxes 20 Plus - The Xerxes 20 Plus turntable without any tonearm or speed controller.
Xerxes 20 Plus System - Xerses 20 Plus turntable with NIMA tonearm and XPS8 speed controller.
Xerxes 20 Plus Reference System - Xerses 20 Plus turntable with SARA tonarm and RPM speed controller.
Key Features
The unique design of the transit locking mechanism of the bearing assembly not only provides a safe transportation method, but also avoids damage if the tonearm is accidentally lifted off its bearing. The counterweight is decoupled and designed to mount off-centre, allowing easy Azimuth correction. The inclusion of VTA adjustment provides optimum alignment for almost any cartridge.
The combination of polished acrylic headshell, silver anodised aluminium tubing and mirror chromed counterweight enhances NIMA's looks and conveys the true lightness and neutrality of this very special arm.
The XPS 8 is the entry level speed control for a Xerxes Turntable. It is compact and economical way to enjoy the reference Xerxes 20 Plus turntable. The XPS 8 supplies consistent and accurate control for the Xerxes Turntable and is electronically switchable between 33 and 45 RPM.
We carefully set up every turntable and cartridge we sell. So if you're new to turntables or have decades of experience, you know you'll be getting the most enjoyment from your system. You can be safe in the knowledge that you can take your turntable home, plug it straight in and start enjoying good music without any worry of something being setup incorrectly.

In terms of timing, dynamics and punch, this deck is up there with the best money can buy. The Roksan has exceptional agility and defines the start and end of notes superbly. The improvements refine these strengths, and make the 20 sound even more controlled than before. Every iteration has been an improvement on the last, and it's Roksan's policy that most of the modifications are retro-fittable. That means that even the earliest decks – which are now almost 25 years old – can be brought close to the latest spec. In this world of built-in obsolescence, that's a welcome breath of fresh air. more...
This is an almost viceless piece of equipment to live with. It doesn’t take up much space, it is easy enough to set up and use and it looks and feels superbly well engineered. Above all, it sounds sensational. I would be amazed if even the most fervent advocate of digital didn’t at least raise a smile at a piece of music they know well being played on the Xerxes. As far as I am concerned, this is everything that vinyl replay has the potential to be, condensed into something that provides endless pleasure of ownership at the same time. For these reasons, the Roksan Xerxes comes Highly Recommended. more...
