The Accuphase E-280 takes the integrated amplifier to further heights with performance and sound quality resulting in a capability well beyond its class .The Accuphase E-280 amp approaches the performance of separate type amplifiers and is Soundlines' favorite go to amplifier if you want straight out performance with the exquisite build quality that Accuphase is known for.
The E-280 comes with a dedicated headphone amplifier optimized for sound quality so there is no need of a separate dedicated headphone amplifier, and an EXT PRE button allows separate use of preamplifier and power amplifier sections. The front panel features Numeric indication of volume level with new LED lighting in the Analog meters for improved legibility.
AAVA volume control with further lowered noise floor
The volume control in the preamplifier section is a crucial component with a decisive influence on performance and sound quality. AAVA is a revolutionary type of completely analog volume control that completely does away with any variable resistors in the signal path. This ensures that the signal remains perfectly unaltered, free from the adverse effects of impedance changes. As a result, both S/N ratio and sound quality are excellent at any volume setting.
Highly efficient power supply with large transformer and large-capacity filter.
The E-280 uses a massive power transformer with high output capability. Highly effective filtering is via two custom-made aluminum electrolytic capacitors, each with a vastly increased 30,000 μF rating.
Powerful Amplification
Parallel push-pull output stage and power amplifier stage mounted on large heat sink. Two identical units are arranged on the left and right sides of the chassis.Power amp units use high-power transistors in a robust parallel push-pull configuration, producing ample output of 120 watts into 4 ohms or 90 watts into 8 ohms per channel.
Option Boards
The Accuphase E-280 now offers two rear panel expansion slots that allow for use of AD-50 (phono preamplifer) or DAC-50 (digital to analogue converter) option boards. These truly make the E-280 an amplifier for life. Additional inputs are easliy added as they become available.
