The LUMIN P1 is the core of your audio system, supporting Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz, Roon, and AirPlay. It also supports all high-resolution formats and the LUMIN L1 Music Server. Video integration is also possible, with nine inputs, including three HDMI inputs. Adding a Blu-ray player creates a powerful 2-channel movie system with an exceptional experience.

The heart of your system

LUMIN P1 offers a range of nine analogue and digital inputs including three HDMI connnections with stereo input, AV passthrough and ARC. Inside are dual ES9028PRO DAC's for huge dynamic range, and LUMIN P1 also features a new internal dual-toroidal power supply similar to the range-topping X1 music streamer.

18 months of continual development has lead to LUMIN's uniquely efficient design including an oversized switching power supply and a fully-digital signal path all the way to the speaker outputs.

Stream from anywhere

The LUMIN range is all about streaming music and as you'd expect, all models support the Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect services. High-resolution streaming comes to LUMIN players courtesy of Tidal and Qobuz streaming services. Tidal has been available in NZ for some time and many of our clients already use it. It offers a large library of CD quality streaming (approx 70 million songs..!) and around 23,000 albums in MQA high resolution. More recent to NZ is Qobuz, which boasts a catalogue of over 70,000 albums, 22,000 of which being high-resolution with up to 24-bit 192kHz resolution. Our initial listening tests revealed its sound quality, particularly on high res content to be superb.

Apple AirPlay is also supported so you're free to stream virtually anything from your iPhone, iPad or Mac through your LUMIN player.

If you have a collection of digital music, either purchased via websites like Bandcamp, HD Tracks or Qobuz, or ripped from your own CD collection, the LUMIN streamers will help you get the best from these files. They'll play music in any format (including DSD), stored on either a hard drive that's connected directly to a LUMIN, or via a network storage device like the LUMIN L1 or 3rd party NAS drive.

The Lumin P1 network player is a standout in so many ways. Its feature set, which combines network streaming, a high-quality DAC, and a multi-input preamplifier, is perfectly suited to today’s music systems. But the real star of the show is the sound quality of the P1’s DAC. When ideally configured, the P1 is not just capable of good sound, but also of a powerful and immersive musical experience.

I very much enjoyed my time with Lumin's P1. Not only is it a superb-sounding D/A processor, but its transparent-sounding analog inputs and full video functionality are a welcome bonus. The Lumin app proved to be an excellent means of controlling the P1.

The fact that it looks and sounds so striking, works so seamlessly with its control app, and has all the flexibility most could ever want, means it’s an attractive buy. But above all, it’s the addictive sound, from electropop to full orchestral force – and everything in between – that seals the deal.
