The MK2 models from Stax have adopted the cable-exchangeable structure, as well as the case holder being made from aluminum, aiming at user-friendliness and comfort when listening to music.

Top quality sound element

The SR-009 hand selected thin-film diaphragm as well as fixed electrodes machined through three-layer stainless etching using heat diffusion has been employed for the SR-L700 sound element. Thus, rich deep bass response, delicate high frequency and soothing mid-range has been achieved in a balanced sound.

10-Click type headband assembly

The headband (ARC) assembly of the SR-L700 is equipped with 10-click slider mechanism for head pad height adjustment adopted from SR-009. Once adjusted, the slider always maintains its optimal position to make readjustment unnecessary. This enables you to enjoy hours of pleasant music listening with utmost comfort.

Low capacitance wide hybrid cable

6NCu high purity 99.99999% copper wires are employed for the core wires plated in silver coating. The whole cable uses the conventional wide format parallel structure to lower the capacitance between each wire and finished with the most suitable structure to drive the Earspeaker.

New genuine lamb leather earpads

New earpad design is carefully hand crafted with genuine lamb leather for utmost comfort for hours of music enjoyment as well as sound performance.

Case made from aluminum

The change of material has enabled the mechanism to be designed with greater flexibility. In the MK2 models, changing the case holder design from conventional linear style into a moderate curve form means that ear pads fit more naturally on both-sides of the head. Moreover, the curve form gives high rigidity and prevents distortion or twist when wearing, resulting in the great improvement of fit and feeling.

This headphone is absurdly musical, but don’t take that as it was measured in an exaggerative way. It is still very pure in quality. The tone of the headphone is just sublime, easily my new favorite of all time.

For headphones that emphasize clarity and detail resolution while retaining a somewhat natural sound, the SR-L700 are a success.

The electrostatic technology that gives it so many advantages has certain weaknesses, and that allows conventional rivals to move ahead in other areas. But that can’t take away from the fact that, given a suitable recording, this Stax SR-L700 Mk2/SRM-700T combo can be little short of magical.
