In 2016, the TAD-ME1 was born and quickly earned worldwide acclaim.
Now, its evolution — the TAD-ME1TX — takes sound to even greater heights.
Featuring a newly developed 2.5cm beryllium diaphragm tweeter, manufactured using TAD’s proprietary vapor deposition technique, along with cutting-edge innovations throughout.
Experience sound that surpasses expectations, resonating beautifully in refined spaces.

Pound for pound, the ME1 is truly one of the greatest little loudspeakers to hit the audiophile market in years.

Beryllium diaphragm tweeter

The TAD-ME1TX uses a newly developed, light yet rigid 25 mm beryllium diaphragm for its tweeter, manufactured with a proprietary vapor deposition technique. TAD have applied a computer-analyzed optimisation technique called Harmonized Synthetic Diaphragm Optimum Method (HSDOM) in designing the form of the diaphragm. This technique enables the precise control of the diaphragm’s divided vibrations and piston motions, which makes possible wide-range sound reproduction of up to 60 kHz.

Magnesium diaphragm midrange

The midrange diaphragm, crafted from magnesium alloy, offers both low mass and high internal damping. Its surface is treated with a combination of anodising and specialised coating, further enhancing rigidity and increasing internal loss to minimise unwanted vibrations. By eliminating even the slightest resonance at the connection point between the lead wire and the voice coil, the design ensures exceptionally clear and distortion-free midrange reproduction. Additionally, the frame basket arm housing the magnetic circuit has been reengineered for greater structural integrity, enabling smoother sound wave propagation behind the diaphragm.

MACC diphragm woofer

The 16 cm woofer features a Multi-layered Aramid Composite Cone (MACC) diaphragm, constructed from laminated layers of woven aramid and non-woven fabrics. This design delivers rich, articulate low frequencies and a natural, uncolored mid-to-low range. Paired with a precision-engineered Linear Drive Magnet Circuit (LDMC) and a corrugated foamed polycarbonate surround, the woofer achieves exceptional linearity and deep, clean bass response. Additionally, the woofer basket’s arm has been redesigned for enhanced structural strength, ensuring stability under powerful excursions and enabling smoother sound wave propagation behind the diaphragm.

Bi-directional port design for rich and natural bass

Like its predecessor, the TAD-ME1TX features the Bidirectional Aero-Dynamic Slot (ADS) port design, incorporating slit-shaped ducts within the left and right side panels. These ports are flared at both the front and rear to promote smooth airflow, reducing port noise at high volumes and preventing internal standing waves from escaping. The symmetrical placement of the ports—both laterally and front-to-back—effectively cancels out port-induced vibrations, resulting in a clean, natural, and responsive bass performance.

Reviews

So satisfying is the ME1 that, in the right room at the right levels, you’ll easily hear what all the hubbub over the CR1 was about. It can utterly destroy preconceptions about what a small speaker can do. Pound for pound, the ME1 is truly one of the greatest little loudspeakers to hit the audiophile market in years.

TAD's new ME1 should be a destination for those wanting a small high-end loudspeaker with big sound capabilities. It is ultra-refined, accurate and articulate with near-full frequency range coverage.

The Micro Evolution One is a remarkable speaker. Highly recommended, and clearly a solid candidate for Class A of our "Recommended Components."
