Meridian G57 Power Amplifier

Design

G57 is constructed of a bead blasted, metal chassis with glass accents that surround an additional inner chassis. This double skinned approach protects delicate signals inside the G57 to be isolated from outside noise. This is just one of the means that Meridian employs to deliver lifelike performance while keeping an eye on industrial design. 

Designed for the ultimate in performance and flexibility, G57 incorporates a unique bridging circuit that reconfigures both channels into one mono channel. In this mode, two channels are combined to provide 1,000 watts of power - this makes for a simple upgrade path that allows you to start with one G57 in stereo and then add another for higher performance.

A 12-volt trigger input allows the G57 to be activated from your preamp or surround controller. This makes for simple, care free, and efficient operation. This trigger is optically isolated from the amplifier, thus eliminating any chance of noise. 

For custom installations, G57 uses the same G Series Rack kit making it simple and easy to install. A separate output trigger controls intake and exhaust fans integrated into the rack kit. This ensures the fans operate when the G57 is on, keeping it at its optimal temperature.

Technology

The G57 contains two amplifier modules, featuring a symmetrical design with fully electronically balanced inputs. Meridian employs a soft start circuit that eliminates any turn on and turn off “thumps.” Both balanced and unbalanced inputs are provided, with the unbalanced inputs converted to balanced before entering the amplifier itself. This “Super Balanced” design provides the highest quality music, while keeping noise at a minimum. All of this produces one of the most musical amplifiers available.

Special attention has been paid to ensuring that the amplifiers can deliver the power that is required at any given moment. Massive twin low-noise toroidal power transformers provide power to no less than four selected pairs of output devices fed by four audiophile-grade smoothing capacitors per channel. Each channel is carefully temperature-controlled for optimum operating characteristics and efficiency. The result is a clear, open sound with deep controlled bass.

With balanced analogue inputs and 12-volt trigger, G57 compliments both Meridian 800 and G Series in either a two-channel system, or, as the main channels of a high performance analogue theatre when combined with G55.
